Dwarf Siberian Improved Kale Seed - 1 Lb.

Dwarf Siberian Improved Kale (Brassica oleracea var. fimbriata) is a fast-growing cool season annual that can be planted in spring or fall for food plots or pastures. Kale can tolerate frost when established, and cooler weather makes the leaves sweeter. The forage quality of brassica is high, and grazing animals should be introduced to pastures slowly to avoid disorders such as bloat. Brassica crops should not make up more than three quarters of the animal's diet.

Soil recommendation: Kale prefers sandy loam to light clay soils with a pH of 5.5-7. Optimal soil temperature for seed germination is 55-75 degrees F. Plant seeds 1/4"-1/2" deep in well-tilled soil. Seeds germinate within 5-17 days and reach maturity between 40-50 days.

Planting rate:
10 lbs./acre for deer food plot; 3.5-4 lbs./acre for livestock pasture grazing.
