Turnip Seven Top Seed Heirloom - 1 Packet

45-65 days. Brassica rapa. Seven Top Turnip seeds grow into cool season root vegetables that are biennials, fast growing and referred to as “turnip greens.” These heirloom seeds come from the mustard family, but are slightly different from other turnip plants. Seven Top Turnips are more commonly grown and harvested for their lavish dark-green leaves, rather than their cream-colored roots. To some, the roots of Seven Top Turnips are considered to be less edible, however, the smaller roots can be consumed after an early harvest. Depending on your taste preference, varieties such as Seven Top Turnip seed can be cooked to sweet and savory perfection or thrown in a verdant salad as a peppery addition. Even a beginner gardener could easily grow this turnip variety, as Seven Top Turnip seeds develop into a high quality hardy crop. In more northern regions, this brassica variety is grown as an annual. Turnip greens in particular, have been a southern culinary tradition in the United States.
